“God often permits the wicked to carry out their evil plans in order to fulfill some larger purpose He has for the objects of their violence and cruelty. Since it is not possible for us to see the whole picture from God’s perspective, we must exercise faith and believe that the God of all the earth will do right and that all things do work together for good to those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” (Foundation Study Bible, Genesis 45:5)

“Joseph's brothers sold him into Egypt, but God sent him there. The brothers sold him for profit, but God sent him to save lives. God overcame their sinful purpose with His saving purpose. Christ died for our sins, and thus overcame all injustices for man's salvation.” (Orthodox Study Bible, Genesis 45:5)

“Even the person who invented crucifixion, the person who devised this ultimate mode of suffering and death to humiliate those regarded as the lowest of the low in society, served God’s purpose in the end. For God subverted this method of torture, suffering, and death and turned it into the means of life and salvation.” (Sacramental Living Blog)

“God can use anything or anyone to accomplish His plans…No one can thwart God’s plans.” (Life Application Study Bible, Numbers 24:15-19, Matthew 2:16)

“Accept everything that you must endure as from the hands of God, remembering firmly that nothing happens without God’s will…God permits everything for our own good; we should believe this.” (St. Theophan the Recluse, Dynamis 9/29/2013)
