Human Condition

“Whereas the Old Covenant was carved on tablets of stone, the New Covenant is personal – the Son comes as a man to other men, to enlighten all nations and peoples… In becoming man, the Lord fully involved Himself in our human condition…He has destroyed the geographic barriers that used to separate us from God, and now leads our blind human race by “a way they did not know” (vs. 16). That way is Christ, the true and living Way (Jn 14:6)…The generosity of God exceeds every human notion of unselfishness, for He enters into the worst of the human condition with His healing love.” (Dynamis 4/11/2019, 4/16/2014)

“The Church doesn’t exist to cure the symptoms of the human condition. She exists to cure the disease itself: death...This is not, by the way, “pie in the sky when you die” stuff. To accept that Christ has conquered death gives new meaning to suffering now. But this is a mystery no one can discover except through the gift of faith.” (Hieromonk Maximos)

“…our Lord specifically calls Peter to the apostolic ministry. Christ goes out of His way to select a man who, by his own admission, is sinful and unworthy of so great a call! Here Christ shows His true understanding of the human condition. Were He to choose perfect and holy men, they would have little sympathy for the failings and weaknesses of others. By choosing imperfect “vessels” to carry His good news, Christ is showing that mercy and forgiveness is available to all who ask.” (Father James Gavrilos)

“But there was a greater reason that Christ came to be with us. Not only did He come to understand us, but He came for us to understand what it is like to be one with Him, to be one with God. He came to save us from our human condition and show us the path to Godliness. “Through His ministry, teachings and miracles, He showed us what it means to have love, compassion and mercy. Through His death, He showed us what it means to have faith and total trust in God. Through His Resurrection, He showed us the path to everlasting life.” (Fr. Stavros N. Akrotirianakis)

“Too often we focus on God as Judge and Lawgiver, ignoring his compassion and concern for us. When God examines our lives, He remembers our human condition.” (Life Application Study Bible, Psalms 103:13-14)
